It's booked!

THE DAY OF THE HAIRCUT

30th SEPTEMBER, 2006
(at 8.45am?!)

It's done. It's booked. It's really happening. IN 26 DAYS!!! It's getting close...

(I don't always announce my haircuts in this way, it's just that I'm shaving my head to raise money for The Salvation Army this time. My next haircut will probably pass without any website announcement...)

It's interesting that this week I was - for the first time - a victim of ponytailism, perhaps the most oft-overlooked discrimination. This week I had my graduation from university. During the obligatory photo, the photographer said (and I quote) - 'Hang on, in that photo we could see your ponytail. Let's take another one so that in the years to come you won't need to remember it.'

Shocking. I was this close (you can't see my hands) to phoning the Daily Mail.

Anything that gets you within inches of contacting the Daily Mail can only ever be considered bad news.

Speaking of the alleged newspaper (and I mean it's alleged to be a newspaper rather than a place of ranting), try this for size:

Apologies if it has any offensive content, it didn't the times I tried it.

What is it with graduation photographers? Mine said I had a 'deceptively big head' when he was trying to fit a hat on me... I think maybe they're just resentful because they didn't get to go to university, or something. Or maybe I just have a big head and the guy just hated your hair! Who knows...

Will there be a livestream of this hairy event on the internet?

Hmmm... An interesting way of raising money! =) I'd better try it in Stockholm! Please send me a photo when it's done and you will recieve a free adress to the Wiberg family in Stockholm! (The new flat). Good luck with the cutting. I will be waiting eagerly by the computer for the result! /Andreas

Alright mate?

I'm throwing a Lord of the Rings themed fancy dress party on the 1st October. Hope you can make it.

Let me know.

Mate, you got me there! For a minute I was like 'No! But I won't have the long hair anymore by then!' and then I realised that you probably weren't throwing a Lord of the Rings themed fancy-dress party on 1st October...

Hi John,

I thought I'd replied on this before but obviously didn't get through your rigorous spam controls. Just wanted to wish you all the best for next weekend. Sorry we can't be there to see the deed done in person. All for a good cause. I guess you've no shortage of free hat offers. Take care. God bless. Stephen & Lynley.

Is this an international Lord of the rings party? If I buy the hair that John cuts off his head and glue it to my face I can join you as Gimli =)
